About |
ICEHardware was created on August 15th 2001 by me, ChriX. At this time we were on free hosting and a free domain, after a while I realised that we had become more popular than I had ever realised and thought it would be better to upgrade. On December 1st 2001 we moved to a new hosting company with a new domain, and I was joined by a few mates: TheCheeseMan, SuperScrubber and Blueice. "Great" we thought, only to find out that the hosts would be the death of us. By Mid-December we had become significantly more popular with a considerable amount of traffic, and this is when our first period of downtime occured. We were down for almost 2 weeks over Christmas and lost a lot of traffic. We were put back online by the hosts in early January 2002, thankfully we didn't lose any data. Everything went fine until April. The hosts went down again, for over a month and we lost all data. At this time all of us were involved in exams of some sort so naturally, they took precedence over the rebuild of the site. After that we worked on redesigning the site, only to find that the hosts had now become completely unstable, with random MySQL screw ups and random bouts of downtime. We had to invest in some new hosting.
That is where you find
us today, several weeks into our new
hosting, and we are back with a nice
backend and a new design. The staff
have changed somewhat, we have lost
TheCheeseMan but gained both SixDegrees
and demics, they can be checked out
on the staff page :) From the large
amount of downtime we recovered from
I think it's safe to say that we aren't
going to allow the great ICEHardware
to die for a long time yet.
Anyway, we hope we can keep providing you with all the cool stuff that you come here for, enjoy the new site! :D
